Just when you think you are doing pretty well in playing the dumb game, you start out a round of nine with 2 triple bogies! (that's three shots over par for those who do not understand golf terminology). It makes you want to stick with just walking--without trying to hit a dumb ball. Plus there are gale force 500 mile an hour winds either in your face or to the side of you that screw everything up. But then as the time goes on, you hit a few good balls and then, miracle of miracles, you get par on hole number 8--your least favorite hole because you NEVER get par on that hole. I mean, I hit a beautiful drive of 195 yards (my longest ever--probably because the gale force winds were now at my back!) and then hit my fairway shot clear to the green--that means I hit it over both of the roads in the way--something I NEVER do! Then I chipped it on--textbook chip up to the pin only a foot away. Then a beautiful putt for PAR! Man, I will never understand it. How did I do that? And you know what else? It made the whole game worth it just to do well on that 8th hole.
Well, I guess there is a moral to the story. I am not sure what it is, but I'll take a stab at it. If at first you don't suceed, try, try again. OR if the golf course serves up lemons, make lemonade. OR Never, never, never give up--pass it on. Well, I don't know, but that one hole made me very happy. So I guess my golf game is measured in small successes, kind of like life. We fall sometimes, we do well sometimes. Perfection is going to take a very long while.
I'll post a picture next time of golfing at Kahuku. I need to save it for posterity. I better take my camera with me to the course.

Fofa, your language. You used the "D". Better clean it up for the cabin, and watch out with stupid, because that is the "S" word. And Max will call you on the carpet each time you slip up. And don't even think about using the word Hate!
sorry--but it is a dumb game. How would you explain it? Maybe I could have said, silly? 'll definitely watch it around the children. At least I wasn't caling a person dumb, right? Will you forgive me????
Hm, I can't even miniature golf, let alone the real thing! :)
